Hi Stampers.  Today I have my Pals Paper Arts Sketch Challenge for you.  This is our first sketch of 2015 and I’m having so much fun being part of this amazing design team!  I do hope you come play along!  Here is our sketch:

PPA236and here is my card:

PPA236This card has a Basic Black card base, 8.5″ x 5.5″, scored at 4.25″.  I used the Stampin’ Up! For Your Country stamp set to stamp the quote from John F. Kennedy in Night of Navy ink on to a 5.5″ x 3/4″ piece of Whisper White card stock.  I used snail to adhere it to the card, but as I was adhering I tucked this little banner flags (in Real Red, Whisper White and Night of Navy) just under the strip (I added a little snail to them too, so they will stay put).  I embossed the soldier in Silver embossing powder (using versamark ink and my heat tool).

Stampin’ Tip: Do you see all the little stragglers of embossing dust?  I tried to be in a hurry and didn’t use my embossing buddy and am NOT happy with the result.  This was AFTER I brushed off any excess that I could with a paint brush.  If I had been a smart girl and taken the excess two seconds to rub the embossing buddy over it first, I wouldn’t have this issue.

My first instinct was to not even show you the finished card and do it over.  But, this is how we learn.  learn from my mistake and buy an embossing buddy! (oh, and use it!)

Prevent extra powder or glitter from sticking to your project. Just rub across paper before application.
