Pals blog hop badgeHi Stampers!

Welcome to the Pals Blog Hop for February 2017. We are thankful you stopped by to take a look at our 2017 Blog Hop monthly themes.  This month we are CASE’ing a project shown in a current Stampin’ Up! catalog. After all, with the Annual, Occasions and Sale-a-Bration catalogs available right now, there is much inspiration from which to choose. We hope you enjoy our creations.

You may just be starting the Blog Hop or may have come from the previous link from the Line-up on the Pals Blog Hop listing shown below.  The full lineup will help you move along from blog to blog so you may see all the projects.

My project was CASE’d from the project at the bottom of page 115 in our 2016-2017 Annual Catalog.  It is based on the One Wild Ride stamp set.  This stamp set was designed as part of Dawn Griffiths One Million dollar in career sales celebration.  Dawn is the creative genius behind Dawns’ Stamping Thoughts.  I love her stuff!!  It’s easy to see how she made $1 Million in sales.

The bag was made using the Stampin’ Up! gift bag punch board.  This was my first time using this tool.  It started out having me a bit intimidated.  But, the directions are listed right on the board, I used an 8.5″ x 11″ piece of Crumb Cake card stock and followed the punch directions and voila!

The card base was made using an 8.5″ x 5.5″ piece of Basic Black, scored at 4.25″.  On the very bottom I used a 4.25″ x .125″ strip of Pumpkin Pie card stock and used the tire treads and the Versamark ink pad with basic black embossing powder heated with the heat tool, to make the embossed tire treads.  Above that I have two layers of Very Vanilla card stock.  The bottom piece is 4″ x 3.75″.  I crumbled it up and then smoothed it out again and adhered it to the card front.  I then stamped onto the second piece (3.75″ x 3.5″) with Basic Black and Pumpkin Pie ink.  The “Born to ride” was heat embossed with black embossing powder onto Pumpkin Pie card stock and I fussy cut it out and mounted it with dimensionals.  The stamped layer was also adhered with dimensionals after I wrapped the linen tread around the top part of the layer.  This gave room between the two layers for the thread to avoid any bumps.

In side is a 5.25″ x 4″ layer of Very Vanilla card stock. I stamped the inside of the card to match the outside.

I decorated the bag by stamping a few tire treads along the bottom with Basic Black ink.  I then used a 5.5″ x 2.25″ strip of Designer Series Paper, a 2.75″ Whisper White circle and a 5.5″ x 1″ strip of Basic Black card stock. The DSP and Basic Black strip were flagged at the end using the triple banner punch.  I then stamped the badge onto Pumpkin Pie card stock and heat embossed with black embossing powder.  I stamped the badge again with Basic Black ink onto Whisper White card stock and fussy cut out the word “journey” and adhered it to the badge with dimentionals.  I finished it off by wrapping some linen thread around the top and tied a bow.  I don’t normally copy things exactly from the catalog, but this was kinda fun!  I hope it inspires you to give it a try some time. (All product used is listed below with links to purchase from my store.)
