Hi Stampers. Our move to Idaho has been leading me toward the sweet and simple cards.  For today’s post – let’s call it Throwback Thursday as I’m using a retired Stampin’ Up! stamp set called Just for You. This is an easy technique that can be done with any stamp set.  It’s called an emboss resist watercolor technique.

Just for You retired Stampin Up heat emboss resist watercolor technique handmade watercolor card by Queen B Creations

This card started with a Always Artichoke card base 8  1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″.  Next I heat embossed this large sentiment on a 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of watercolor paper with VersaMark ink and white embossing powder.  Next I used the aqua painter to apply Cajun Craze, Crushed Curry and Always Artichoke ink. The ink will not stick to the embossed area. That’s why they call this the emboss resist watercolor technique.  I then wrapped some linen thread around this layer on the left side and tied a bow. I then attached this layer layer to the card base.

For the interior of the card I used a 4″ x 5 1/4″ layer of Very Vanilla card stock.  I stamped a flower in Cajun Craze ink in the upper left and a flower in Crushed Curry ink in the lower right corner.  The leaves and sentiment were added in Always Artichoke ink.  Then I adhered it to the interior of the card base with snail adhesive.

I’ve used this emboss resist technique before with sponge daubers instead of the water color you can see that post including a video instructional HERE.
