2016badge-watermelon

Welcome to the Pals Blog Hop for February 2016. We are thankful you stopped by to take a look at our new 2016 Blog Hop monthly themes.  This month we are CASE-ing a project shown in a current Stampin’ Up! catalog. After all, with the Annual, Occasions and Sale-a-Bration catalogs available right now, there is much inspiration to choose from. We hope you enjoy our creations.

You may just be starting the Blog Hop or may have come from the previous link from the Line-up on the Pals Blog Hop listing shown below.  The full lineup will help you move along from blog to blog so you may see all the projects.

blog-hop-banner3I decided to CASE (Copy And Share Everything) the banner at the bottom of page 30 in the 2015-2016 Annual Catalog.  This banner uses rosettes over pennants and the Everything Eleanor stamp set.  They did their banner in neutral colors and I chose to do mine in pinks and grays for Valentine’s Day.  (When I CASE something – I tend to put my own twist on it.) The pennants are Smoky Slate card stock cut to 8.5″ x 4.25″.  I used a 4″ square and turned it on point to trace where to draw the cuts for the triangle cut at the bottom of each one.  I then stamped on them with the Everything Eleanor swirl and Basic Gray ink.  I stacked the four of them together and used the 1/4″ circle punch to punch a hole in the upper left and upper right.  Stacking them on top of each other ensured that the wholes were punched in the same spot on each pennant.

blog-hop-banner1The rosette was made using the Rosette Designer Bigz XL Die and my Big Shot (love that thing!!).  I cut 2″ strips of Pink Pirouette card stock and was able to cut three at a time using the die (don’t forget that you need the extended cutting plates for this die – it’s for 12″ long strips).  After cutting them, I folded the strips on the score lines and used mono adhesive to glue the ends of two of them together to form a circle.

I stamped the rose in Pink Pirouette ink onto Whisper White card stock and then the circle with lines (what would you call that image??) in Rose Red ink over the top of the rose. I then punched them out with the 2.5″ circle punch.  I flattened out the rosette and used hot glue to attach the circle to the rosette.  After the glue dried and it would hold it shape and stay together – I used hot glue to adhere the rosette to the pennant.  The letters were cut (by hand – someone has borrowed my little letters framelit dies) out of Blushing Bride glimmer paper.

blog-hop-banner2The final touch was to run Basic Gray Bakers Twine through the holes on the top of pennants to form the banner.  I used tape on the back of each pennant to hold the pennant onto the bakers twine so that they stayed evenly spaced apart for proper hanging.  I hope these makes sense. Please leave any questions you may have in the comments and I’ll be sure to answer each one.

Thanks for visiting. To continue with the hop, please refer to the Blog Hop Line-up below. We hope to see you on next month’s Pals Blog Hop!
