Global Stamping Friends Blog Hop Badge

Hi Stampers. I’m back!  I’m sorry it’s been a while. I was surprised with an emergency appendectomy for Valentine’s Day.  It’s been a bit of a rough recovery, but I’m glad to be blogging again.  Today I’m coming to you with a blog hop for the Global Stamping Friends.  Today we are all sharing items that have been “stepped up”.

Beginner Stamper:

Stampin' Up! Lasting Lily Sympathy Card step it up blog hop Lisa Ann Bernard of Queen B Creations

My first card is a simple version.  It starts out with a Highland Heather card base – 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″, scored at 4-1/4″.  I stamped the Lilies from the Lasting Lily stamp set (a level 2 Sale-A-Bration product) in Highland Heather ink and the stems in Old Olive ink, onto a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Whisper White CS. The sentiment was then stamped in Highland Heather ink. I then tied a knot in the center of a 6″ piece of Highland Heather organdy ribbon (a level 1 Sale-A-Bration product) and wrapped it around the top of the whisper White layer. I attached it to the back of the layer using glue dots. The Whisper White layer was then attached to the card base using Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Easy peasy!

Here are some tips for using the distINKtive stamps from Stampin’ Up!:

For my second card I stepped it up a little.  This starts out with a Gorgeous Grape card base, 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″, scored at 4-1/4″.  This time I stamped the one lily in Highland Heather ink and stem in Old Olive ink onto the Whisper White layer. The second lily and stem were stamped onto scraps of Whisper White CS and cut out using the Lily Framelits Dies (a limited release Stampin’ Up! Coordination product). The second lily and stem are adhered to the Whisper White layer using Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The sentiment was stamped onto a scrap of Whisper White CS in Highland Heather ink and cut out with one of the smaller ovals from the Layering Ovals Framelits Dies. This was backed with a layer of Gorgeous Grape CS cut out with a slightly larger scallop oval from the Layering Ovals Framelits Dies. The ovals were adhered together with snail adhesive and then adhered to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I then wrapped the 6″ piece of Highland Heather organdy ribbon (a level 1 Sale-A-Bration product) around the top of the Whisper White layer and adhered it to the back with glue dots.  Next, I tied a bow in a piece of the Highland Heather organdy ribbon and adhered it to the card front (over the other ribbon) using glue dots. The Whisper White layer was then adhered to the card base using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

For this third card, it’s stepped up yet again.  This time I started with the Gorgeous Grape card base – 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″, scored at 4-1/4″. Next up is a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Highland Heather CS that has been dry embossed using the Subtle Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. This time I stamped the first lily and stem onto a 2-7/8″ x 2-7/8″ piece of Whisper White CS.  This layer was cut using the Layering Squares Framelits Dies, but could easily be cut with the trimmer if you choose.

The second lily and stem were again stamped onto scraps of Whisper White and die cut using the Lily Framelits Dies. These were then adhered to the card front using Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals. The Whisper White Square was then adhered to the Highland Heather layer using mini glue dots.  I chose to use mini glue dots instead of snail because of the texture on the Highland Heather layer – the glue dots are “thicker” and stick better. You could also use tear and tape.

I wrapped a 6″ piece of HIghland Heather organdy ribbon around the bottom part of the Highland Heather layer and adhered it to the back with glue dots. The Highland Heather layer was then adhered to the card base using Stampin’ Dimensionals. This third card was a few more steps and a few more tools, but I’m thrilled with the way it came out!

So, as you can see here – this card can be done at varying levels of skill and using just a few tools or a bunch of tools.  You can follow along on the hop and see more examples of how to “step it up”!
