Paper Pumpkin Possibilities Blog Hop – Gift of Fall

Hi Stampers.  Welcome to the Paper Pumpkin Possibilities August 2019 Blog Hop.  We are here to give you alternate ideas for your Gift of Fall paper pumpkin kit.  I made my alternatives by also using the super cool “add-on” pack that you could get this month.

I used the gift bag that came in the kit and added a strip of Crushed Curry CS down the middle of the bag and then layered the paper pumpkin parts over the top.  I stamped the tag with a sentiment from the Paper Pumpkin set in Early Espresso ink.

I then added a bow using the 5/8″ burlap ribbon and used the tissue from the paper pumpkin kit on the inside of the bag.

For the card, I used a Merry Merlot card base – 11″ x 4-1/4″, scored at 5-1/2″. Next, I cut off 2-3/4″ of the card front and decorated it using the back of one of the cards (the Crumb Cake and one of the tags cut to a rectangle).

The top of the card from the kit was cut down to 2-1/2″ x 4″ and adhered to the left side of the card front. A leftover strop 3/4″ x 4″ from that card was adhered to a 5-1/4″ x 4″ layer of Whisper White for the interior of the card.

For the focal point on the front, I used a Merry Merlot stitched circle from the kit and cut a slightly smaller Whisper White circle on top of that.  One of the velum leaves was added to the center of the white circle and they were all put on the card front using stampin’ dimensionals.

I used Crushed Curry ink and the “happy thanksgiving” stamp from the kit to finish the interior of the card.

Paper Pumpkin Possibilities Blog Hop

Hi Stampers.

Welcome to the Paper Pumpkin Pop Up Blog Hop! We are all fans of this monthly crafting kit and want to share with you our enthusiasm for this box of fun and creativity. The beauty of the Paper Pumpkin kit is that you can follow the directions provided in the kit to make the projects as they were designed, or use the supplies as a starting point and let your creativity run wild. On this hop we will be sharing lots of ideas with you on how to use this March Paper Pumpkin kit: May Good Things Grow.

Stampin' Up! Paper Pumpkin July 2019 paper pumpkin possibilities alternative ideas blog hop by Lisa Ann Bernard of Queen B Creations
For July, we were given a beautiful kit to work with that coordinates with existing product from our Annual Catalog.  I chose to work with the nautical portion of this kit and add a pizza box and the stamp set, High Tide to make it a little something different.
Stampin' Up! Paper Pumpkin July 2019 paper pumpkin possibilities alternative ideas blog hop by Lisa Ann Bernard of Queen B Creations
I used the card base that came in the kit and added a 3-3/4″ x 5″ piece of Mossy Meadow CS and a 3-1/2″ x 4-3/4″ piece of Whisper White CS.  I started by cutting a large circle out of a scrap piece of CS using the Layering Circles dies and sponged Calypso Coral ink and Pumpkin Pie ink to create a large sun.

Next, I used the High Tide stamp set to stamp the water waves using Seaside Spray ink.  Over the stamped waves, I sponged some Pumpkin Pie ink and Calypso Coral ink to create the sun reflection down the middle at an angle. Seaside Spray ink was then sponged on either side of the reflection.

The sailboat is from the kit and is attached to the card front using mini stampin’ dimensionals. The birds from the High Tide stamp set were stamped in the upper right corner in Basic Gray ink.

On the inside of the card, I stamped the sentiment from the kit in Basic Gray ink and the seashell (also from the kit) in Sahara Sand ink.  I love how this card came out!

To coordinate with the card, I decorated on of the Stampin’ Up! Pizza boxes. All the pieces used in the decorating of the box were from the kit. I cut up one of the card bases, the solid mossy meadow color was on the back side of the card base and the stripes were on the front.  The sentiment was stamped onto the strip (from the kit) in Night of Navy ink and attached with stampin’ dimensionals. The linen thread and the wheel were tucked behind the sentiment.
As you see here – and will see throughout the rest of the hop, there are many possibilities with this adorable kit!

April 2019 Paper Pumpkin Alternative

Hi Stampers. I have to confess.  I have not been a fan of Paper Pumpkin in the past, but they have been making great strides in improvement to these kits.  There is also a lot more “alternative” ideas for using these kits out there in case you don’t like it exactly as designed.  This is one of those alternative ideas.  The Sentimental Rose kit that was released in April 2019 had a great distINKtive rose stamp in it.  I used that rose and it’s leaves to create these cards.

The Paper Pumpkin kit is a monthly subscription for a paper crafting kit.  Each month you get an all inclusive kit – ie: an exclusive set of stamps, papers, dimensionals, glue dots, die cuts and an ink spot. You can purchase this a month to month subscription or you can purchase a prepaid subscription (for yourself or a friend)- hint – the prepaid option is a great way to earn those Bonus Days $5 coupons.

What is a distINKtive stamp?  It is a new style of stamp that Stampin’ Up! have developed called a Distinktive stamp. This type of stamp lays down the ink at different opacities giving the finished image more depth – just ink the surface lightly for a perfect photographic finish.

Step-by-Step Tutorial:

Stampin' Up! thanks card set April 2019 paper pumpkin alternative by Lisa Ann Bernard of Queen B Creations

1. Start with a card base 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″, scored at 4-1/4″. (I used Lovely Lipstick, Petal Pink and Gorgeous Grape cardstock.
2. Folded and burnished at the score line.

3. Dry emboss a 4″ x 5-1/4″ layer of Very Vanilla CS using the Brick & Mortar 3D Embossing Folder.
4. Adhere this to the card front using snail adhesive.

5. Cut a piece of Mossy Meadow CS – 1-1/2″ x 5-1/4″.

6. Cut a piece of Very Vanilla CS – 1-1/4″ x 5-1/4″.
7. Use Mossy Meadow ink and a sentiment to stamp onto the right side of the Very Vanilla CS strip. (I used the “thanks” sentiment from the Good Morning Magnolia stamp set).
8. Adhere the Very Vanilla strip to the Mossy Meadow strip and then the two to the card front using snail adhesive.

9. Stamp the flower (in the color of your choice) onto a scrap of Very Vanilla CS (approx. 3″ x 3″).
10. Stamp the leaves in Mossy Meadow ink onto scraps of Very Vanilla CS.

11. Cut out the rose and leaves, either with paper snips or a Brother Scan-n-cut machine.  See more info about the Brother Scan-n-cut at my affiliate link HERE. (An affiliate link means – while keeping the cost the same for you – I earn a small referral fee that helps to support this blog).
12. Adhere these to the left side of the card front using stampin’ dimensionals.

Stampin’ Tip: The key to getting a good image with the distINKtive stamps is to have an ink pad that is not too dry, but also not too juicy.  Before I inked the stamp, I rubbed the ink pad with the back of a spoon – pushing the ink down into the pad.

13. Cut a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Very Vanilla CS for the interior of the card.
14. Use the flower stamp to stamp the flower in the lower right corner.
15. Adhere this layer to the interior of the card using snail adhesive.

Product Spotlight – Stamp Cleaning Pad

After I was done stamping, I cleaned my photopolymer stamps using the Simply Shammy and then the Stamp Cleaning Pad.  The new Stamp Cleaning Pad is great for removing any leftover inks from the stamp – preventing staining.

This is the stamp after using it with the Petal Pink, Gorgeous Grape and Lovely Lipstick inks. As you can see, it does a great job of cleaning the photopolymer stamps!

Scallop Tag Tree Card

Hi Stampers!  I hope you are having a great day.  I am enjoying the view out my office window and I was the much needed rain. Today’s card is another card featuring the Stampin’ Up! Festival of Trees stamp set.  I have paid it with an unlikely thinlit – the hexagon hive thinlit.  I use this one much more in the spring with flowers, but it ended up working out well with this card.
tree-tagThis card starts off with a Garden Green card base (8.5″ x 5.5″, scored at 4.25″). The hexagon Whisper White layer I cut using the Big Shot and the Hexagon Hive thinlit.

Stampin’ Tip: When using thinlits that have lots of detail, you can save yourself a headache by using a layer of wax paper between the paper and the thinlit, when you run it through the Big Shot.  The wax on the paper makes the thinlit release from the paper much easier.

Next I used a 2″ x 3.5″ of Whisper White that I put into the scallop tag topper punch and punched the end.  I then used the Stampin’ Up! Festival of Trees stamp set and stamped the tree in Garden Green ink and the decorations and pot in Cherry Cobbler ink.  The finishing touch was a strip of 3/4″ Chevron Ribbon in Smokey Slate and a strip of 1/8″ silver ribbon tied at the top of the tag.  The tag was then attached to the front of the card with dimensionals.

All the supplies used to make this card will be listed below. They can all be purchased from my online store.
