Honey Bee Peek a Boo – Pals Blog Hop

Hi Stampers

Hello, welcome to the Pals Blog Hop! This month our theme is “Goodbye to January-June Mini and 2019-2020 Annual Catalogs and Hello to 2020-2021 Annual Catalog” where the Design Team is showcasing their favorites from the retiring catalogs or products in the new catalog! You’ll find the full line-up below to help you “hop” along from Pal to Pal.

Stampin' Up! Honey Bee Thank You Peek-a-boo technique card with video by Lisa Ann Bernard of Queen B Creations

Today I am sharing with you a great bundle that is retiring soon.  The Honey Bee bundle was super popular and went on back order quickly, so it’s a bummer it’s leaving.  I also used the layering circles to make the peek-a-boo hole and the frame.  Smaller punches framed the sentiment perfectly.

I love how the layers work on this fun fold card.  It has a bit of a stacked look on the top, as you can see in the photo here. The honey bees and the inside sentiment were stamped in Memento Black ink. Stampin’ Write Markers were used to ink the stamp for the flower and to color the body of the honey bees.

The honey bee hive used in the inside design shows though the peek-a-boo hole and also works great with the added elements on the inside of the card. If you need further instruction, I have provided a video tutorial with all the details below.  The list of all products used (with links to my store) are also provided below.

More inspiration awaits! Use the Blog Hop Line-up below to visit the rest of this month’s Design Team. My fellow Pals are excited to show you what they’ve created! Mark your calendars for June 10th, with our theme “New 2020-2022 In Colors.” We can’t wait to show you the newest In Colors in the Stampin’ Up! color family. Don’t miss the fun! Until then, please stay safe and have fun in your craft room.

First Frost Bouquet

Hi Stampers. Today’s card features the First Frost Bundle, which is another very pretty set retiring at the end of this month.  🙁

Stampin' Up! First Frost Frosted Bouquet Winter card by Lisa Ann Bernard of Queen B Creations

This card starts with a Gorgeous Grape card base and then a layer of watercolor paper.  I used Balmy Blue ink and the Aqua Painter to create this watercolor wash technique for the background.  Next, I stamped a few of the greenery and then did lots of layering of die-cuts over the top of that.

The sentiment, from First Frost, was stamped in Gorgeous Grape ink onto a stitched oval and backed with a Gorgeous Grape scalloped oval.  I chose to do springs in Balmy Blue and Gorgeous Grape CS to pop out form behind the ovals.

All layers were placed over a strip of 3/8″ silver edge ribbon using stampin’ dimensionals.  Finally I added the flowers to the front of the card too.  The First Frost flowers were stamped in Gorgeous Grape and Highland Heather inks and die cut using the coordinating, Frosted Bouquet, dies.

Social Distancing Giraffes

Hi Stampers, I’m back today with another quarantine / social distancing card.  Ten days ago I shared with you my little quarantined piggy who stayed home – see that post by clicking here.  Today, I have two giraffes social distancing by staying six feet apart.  I used the Back on Your Feet stamp set.  This set only have one giraffe facing to the left.  I used the stamparatus, to do the “mirror stamp technique” to make the second giraffe face the other direction.

Stampin' Up! Back On Your Feet social distancing giraffes mirror stamping technique by Lisa Ann Bernard

The card base is Crushed Curry followed by a layer of Basic Black. I stamped onto Whisper White CS and colored the social distancing giraffes using the Stampin’ Blends.

Seaside Spray ink was sponged above them as a sky and Old Olive ink was sponged below them to be grass.  I used a Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker to draw the arrows and the 6′ between the two giraffes.

This cute sentiment “This is knot good” came in the Back on Your Feet stamp set and coordinates with the giraffe (since it has a knot in it’s neck). The sentiment was stamped in Soft Suede ink onto a scrap of Whisper White CS and punched out using a 1-3/8″ scallop circle punch and mounted on a piece of Soft Suede CS punched out using the 1-1/2″ circle punch. <—– I am so sad these punches (along with many others) are retiring!

Inside the card is a layer of Whisper White that has been sponged to match the front of the card.

The sentiment “Miss You Friend” is made using three stamps from the Well Said stamp set.  In the video below you can see how I die cut the CS (using the Ornate Frames Dies) and used a negative template to hold the die cut and stamp the sentiment using the Stamparatus.  Doing this allowed me to mount the stamps nice and straight, using the grid lines, ONCE and stamp many of these in succession to use on a bunch of cards I made.

Finally, I added that sentiment using Stampin’ Dimensionals, so that it could be used as the stopper for my easel card.  You can find full direction and measurements for my social distancing giraffes by watching the video below and all supplies can be purchased from my online store.

On To Adventure

Hi Stampers, do you have some friends or family who are “On To Adventure” in retirement?  If they are headed somewhere tropical, I may have just the card!  This fun fold card features the corner tuck technique.

This card starts with an Old Olive base and then a beach scene was made using Balmy Blue and Crumb Cake CS.  The palm trees, from the Timeless Tropical stamp set, were inked using Stampin’ Write Markers.

The little people are from the On To Adventure stamp set and colored using the Stampin’ Blends and cut out using my Brother Scan-n-Cut. <– click the link to see which one I have, on Amazon

Inside the card, my layer is the same size as the beach scene layer on the front of the card, so that it would not show when closed.  The corner is a triangle that has been dry embossed and attached with mini dimensionals on the very edges, leaving an area to tuck the corner in.  You can see more about how this card was made by watching the video tutorial below.

Watercolor Wobble Card

Hi Stampers. Are you ready to watercolor? Last Friday, I shared with you a wobble card made using the Little Ladybug bonus host set for Sale-A-Bration 2020.  Friday’s card was colored using the Stampin’ Blends.  Today’s card is watercolored.

Stampin' Up! Little Ladybug watercolor wobble card by Lisa Ann Bernard of Queen B Creations

For this card, I used a Blueberry Bushel card base and Fluid 100 watercolor paper for the background, flower and ladybug.  An Aqua Painter and a drop of ink from the Pool Party reinker were used to great the large whitewash technique in the background.

The flower and ladybug are stamped in Stazon Black ink and then colored using the Stampin’ Up! Watercolor Pencils. After coloring the, I went over them with the Aqua Painter and just a little bit of water – just enough to blend the color and get rid of the pencil lines. The highlights on the petals were made using the White Stampin’ Chalk Marker. They were then cut out using the coordinating LadyBug Dies.

The flower was attached using Stampin’ Dimensionals and the ladybug was attached using the wobble. Here is a side view of what the wobble looks like attached.

For the interior of the card, I stamped the sentiment in Basic Gray and the ladybug in Memento Black. The ladybug was then colored using the stampin’ blends. Remember if you love this set and don’t have it yet – you only have a few days left to qualify!

Little Ladybug Wobble

Hi Stampers. Last year during Sale-A-Bration, I showed you how to make a wobble card using a handmade wobble.  This year, I’m using a wobble I bought online.

Stampin' Up! Little Ladybug Sale-A-Bration 2020 wobble card colored with Stampin' Blends by Lisa Ann Bernard of Queen B Creations

If you look closely, you can see that I stamped the ladybug (from the Sale-A-Bration host set – Little Ladybug) onto the Real Red card base in the same color ink. The Whisper White layer is die cut using the Stitched Rectangle Dies and then dry embossed using the Basket Weave Embossing Folder.

Stampin’ Tip: Stamping an image onto card stock in the coordinating ink, gives you a watermark type look.  This works great to give “a little something” to the background. (ie: stamping in Real Red ink onto Real Red cardstock).

The flower and ladybug are stamped in Memento Black ink and then colored using the Stampin’ Blends.  They were then cut out using the coordinating LadyBug Dies.

For the interior of the card, I stamped the sentiment in Real Red ink and the tiny ladybugs in Memento Black. The ladybugs were then colored using the stampin’ blends.  Remember if you love this set and don’t have it yet – you only have a few days left to qualify!
