September Paper Pumpkin

Stampin' Up! Paper Pumpkin Blog Hop

Hi Stampers, today I am participating in another Paper Pumpkin Blog Hop.  (Below, I have provided a blog hop line up for you). The September 2020 paper Pumpkin kit is called “Hello, Pumpkin” and is filled with adorable little treat boxes.  Today I am making a few of the treats up as they intended.  Come back on Tuesday, September 29th for my alternative ideas for this kit.

I assembled and decorated two of the “crackers” and made the 3″ x 3″ card with pieces from the kit, per the directions. (Well, sort of… LOL).

The “crackers” came pre-cut and pre-scored, all I had to do was put some adhesive and roll it up and tie the ends.  The paper was double sided, so you could choose to do one pattern or the other – or BOTH!

The pumpkin and all the little pieces were already die cut, I just punched them out and attached them using the adhesives provided in the kit. I stamped the “Hello Pumpkin” in Pumpkin Pie ink (the kit came with Cajun Craze ink) using the cute stamp set in the kit.

For this one, I did pretty much the same thing, just used different elements and the black bakers twine this time instead of white.

This cute little 3″ x 3″ card was also an idea from the kit.  I just love that Paper Pumpkin gives us more supplies than we need and then additional ideas to use for those extra supplies!

Ornate Thanks Mini Desk Calendar

Hi Stampers. Happy (fresh start) Monday. My goal for this week is to get more organized. One thing I need to keep me organized is a good calendar!  I need to use my planner more… but a good desk calendar for quick reference is good, too. For today’s post, I’m combining an easel card with a calendar and tossing in a note pad to make it even more useful.

You have probably seen me do many easel cards in the past.  I’ve done regular easel cards (see one here), sideways easel cards (see one here), some with a twist (see one here) and even some fancy easel cards (see one here)…

The basics of the calendar are the same as an easel card.  I started with an Mossy Meadow card base 4-1/4″ x 11″, scored at 5-1/2″.  The front of the easel has an extra 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ piece of Mossy Meadow CS, with a layer of the Ornate Garden DSP over that.

The small calendars can be purchased online at Taylored Expressions.  I mounted the calendar onto a layer of Poppy Parade CS that was slightly larger.

Once propped up, you see that it is lined with another layer of the same DSP.  You will also see that I have covered a post it note page with a back layer of Bumblebee CS and a front layer of Ornate Garden DSP.

The sentiment was stamped using the Ornate Thanks stamp set onto a scrap of Very Vanilla CS that was then die cut using the stitched rectangle dies.  That was mounted over an Old Olive frame die cut using the Ornate Frames Dies.  These are then mounted on Stampin’ Dimensionals.  More detailed information can be found in the video below.

Tropical Oasis Shadow Box Card

Hi Stampers.  We made it!  It’s FRIDAY!!!  I have a bit of a flash back Friday for you today, in that a few products used in this card are retired.  Because you can use the fold for almost anything, I’m sharing it anyway.

Stampin' Up! Tropical Oasis Memories & More card Shadow Box Card by Lisa Ann Bernard

The front of this card is made up as usual.  This card started with a Poppy Parade card base 8″ x 5-1/2″, scored at 4-1/4″.  (The 3-3/4″ part is the inside of the card.) This is followed by a 4″ x 5-1/4″ layer of So Saffron CS.  The So Saffron layer was first dry embossed using the recently retired Basket Weave embossing folder. To give the card a pop of color, a 4″ x 2″ piece of colorful DSP is added to the front of the card. The sentiment is from the Peaceful Moments stamp set and is stamped onto a scrap of Whisper White in Poppy Parade ink.

Stampin’ Tip: Did you know that you can layer two punches of different shapes together?  In this example, I have layered the Label Me Fancy Label Punch over the Everyday Label Punch.

Stampin' Up! Tropical Oasis Memories & More card Shadow Box Card by Lisa Ann Bernard

What makes this card different is the “shadow box” on the inside.  The shadow box is created with a piece of Whisper White CS 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″, scored at 3-3/4″, 4-1/4″, 8″.  Use the layering circles die to cut a scalloped circle out of the 9″ x 5-1/2″ piece of Whisper White, between the 4-1/4 and 8″ score lines.  This “shadow box” is adhered to the interior of the card by attaching the first 3-3/4″ section to the interior of the card using Stampin’ Seal+.  The 1/2″ on the opposite side is then attached to the inside of the front cover using Stampin’ Seal+.

The beach scene is is created using a 2″ x 3-3/4″ of Crumb Cake CS that was torn on the top and glued to the bottom of the card interior – to look like sand. My sun was made using the retired Starburst Punch, but you can use the layering circles dies or the 2-1/4″ circle punch.  I punched the circle out of Daffodil Delight CS and then cut it into quarters using paper snips.  The “sun” was then glued to the upper left corner using multipurpose liquid glue.  The palm trees from the Timeless Tropical stamp set is inked using Stampin’ Write Markers and stamped onto Whisper White CS.  The palm trees were then die cut using the In The Tropics Dies and adhered to the inside of the card (as shown in photo) using multipurpose liquid glue.

The inside of the “shadow box” can be decorated using stamps or, as in this case, use a Memories & More Card pack.  They are not just for Scrapbooking, they make quick and easy cards, too!

Gather Together Buckle Fold Card

Hi Stampers, welcome back for another Stamping Friends Blog Hop. My card today is a buckle fold card using the Gather Together stamp set and the Gathered Leaves Dies.  For today’s hop we are celebrating Autumn / Fall. There are many fun and create ideas on our hop, so don’t miss any.  I have provided a blog hop line up below to help you see them all.

Stampin' Up! Gather Together buckle fold card by Lisa Ann Bernard of Queen B Creations

My card is CASEd from fellow demo, Cindy Brumbaugh, she made a similar card in 2019.  I’ve updated it using products from the 2020 catalogs. The card base is 8-1/2″ x 4-1/4″, scored at 5-1/2″. I decorated the front of the card with a 2-3/4″ x 4″ layer of Brushed Metallic cardstock, followed by a 2-1/2″ x 3-3/4″ layer of Plaid Tidings DSP.

Stampin’ Tip: Cut the leaves out of the center of the Brushed Metallic cardstock before adhering it to the card.  After you adhere the DSP, you won’t be able to tell and it helps you get the most out of your product.

Stampin' Up! Gather Together buckle fold card by Lisa Ann Bernard of Queen B Creations

Next, I used the classic label punch to punch a slot in the center of the card front. (This will be where the belt will tuck into.) The focal point, of the leaves, is assembled and glued onto a 2-1/4″ circle. Then the circle is adhered to the front of the card by using Stampin’ Seal on the left side of the “slot” only. (So the belt can tuck underneath.)

The largest leaf, from the Gather Together stamp set, was stamped onto a 3″ square of Merry Merlot CS in Merry Merlot ink and die cut using the Gathered Leaves Dies.  The metallic leaves are die cut (and embossed at the same time) using the smaller leaves from the Gathered Leaves Dies. The smaller sprig of leaves, also die cut from the Brushed Metallic CS, is from the Detailed Bands Dies.

The “belt” for the card is a 5-1/2″ x 1-1/2″ strip of Merry Merlot CS with a 5-1/2″ x 1-1/4″ strip of the Plaid Tidings DSP adhered to the top.  This strip is then scored 1/2″ from the right.  The 1/2″ is adhered to the backside of the inside layer before it is adhered to the card.  I used the Gather Together stamp set to stamp the pumpkins and the greeting above and below the “belt” on the inside layer. I’m thrilled with how it came out, I hope you are too!

You have now reached the end of the hop.  If you started somewhere in the middle you can go to the beginning by going back to Jo Blackman’s blog or use the list below to see who you missed.
